Secondary ELA GVC Refinement and Resources Cadre

from Kristi Chalk
The Curriculum and Instruction Department is seeking secondary teachers to participate in an ELA cadre to enhance support for standards-based planning and instruction. This cadre will explore and evaluate new curriculum resources, which will align to the rigor of integrated reading and writing instruction. This cadre will continue to refine the Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC), including alignment to any newly identified curriculum resources. Please share this information with teachers who might be interested in participating in this cadre work.

Progress on 2019-20 Mandatory Trainings

from Lisa Walker
Thanks for your support in helping staff members complete the 2019-20 mandatory trainings in the Professional Growth platform on Frontline.

At the present time, approximately 63% of all district staff have completed the trainings. Please continue to encourage all staff members to complete the required trainings by our deadline of Friday, November 8, 2019.

Questions can be referred to your building IDP representatives if staff members experience problems logging into the system or accessing trainings. If needed, IDP representatives can also provide additional assistance for closed caption features and transcripts, for staff members unable to access the audio on the trainings.

Questions that cannot be answered by an IPD representative can be referred to Jared.Alexander@kckps.org.

from Lisa Walker
At the November 5th Principals’ Meeting, we will move into the next phase of our district-wide School Improvement Planning process. We’ll continue our learning by sharing our Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) progress and start moving into linking causation to interventions based on our findings.

Please complete and bring a copy of the attached spreadsheet that captures your RCA work to date. Sheets should be an authentic reflection of your building’s progress, so please know there are no right or wrong answers!

Additionally, please bring a copy of (or have digital access to) your 60 Day Plan.

We look forward to the collaboration!

Let me know if you have any questions.
