ESL December Professional Learning

From Kristen Scott
We will pull the EC5 ESL staff on Wednesday afternoon, December 16th from 1:00 to 3:30 here at the Central Office. This will allow the ESL staff to remain with their building on December 18th.
Please forward this information to your ESL staff. Thank you.

Spring 2015 Student State Assessment Reports

From David Rand
Between now and Thanksgiving break, schools should be receiving printed copies of last spring’s ELA and Math individual student state assessment reports through inter-office mail. Please distribute these reports to parents prior to winter break in the manner that will best ensure the reports make it home. The reports that you receive will be based on your current school year enrollment as of the end of October so you should have very few reports for students that are not in your building this year. We are currently working on a student report in Spanish and will provide those to buildings as soon as they are ready. Please note that these reports were created by the district in an attempt to make them more parent friendly and will look different that student reports you may have accessed in the KITE Educator Portal. If you have any questions regarding these reports, please contact David Rand in DERA. Thank you very much!

SRP Plan Appendix

From Michael Webb
The Superintendent has asked that we develop plans to keep students engaged in case of an hours long evacuation from a school and include these in each school’s Standard Response Protocol Plan.?? Attached you will find an appendix (as suggested by Principal Thompson at FL Schlagle) that I hope will be considered by your school safety team for immediate inclusion in your school SRP plan as an appendix this school year and a permanent addition to section E for next school year.?? If you choose to include this appendix, please send the approved version to Raquel Ayala for the files.?? Thank you.

Bottled Beverage Vending

From Robert Young
The Board of Education has approved a new bottled beverage vending contract with Pepsi-Co. You may have already been contacted by a representative from Pepsi-Co relating to the upcoming change.

There will be some activity in your buildings over the next few weeks relating to this deployment. Coca-Cola will have representatives in the building unloading and removing their equipment. This should occur prior to Pepsi-Co bringing in new equipment and stocking it with their product. This should begin in the next few days.

As I am able to get specific logistical information from both providers, I will provide you with a specific schedule of deployment for your site.

Thank you for your assistance in this process.
