Progress Update for Mandatory Trainings, 2019-20

from Lisa Walker
Thanks for your support in helping staff members complete the 2019-20 mandatory trainings in the Professional Growth platform on Frontline.

At the present time, approximately 45% of all district employees have completed the trainings. Please continue to encourage all staff members to complete the required trainings by our deadline of Friday, November 8, 2019.

Questions can be referred to your building IDP representatives if staff members experience problems logging into the system or accessing trainings. If needed, IDP representatives can also provide additional assistance for closed caption features and transcripts, for staff members unable to access the audio on the trainings.

Questions that cannot be answered by an IDP representative can be referred to Jared.Alexander@kckps.org.

Family Perception Survey Open Through 11/1/19

from Lisa Walker
As of Friday, 10/18/19, we had approximately 2,000 responses for the district’s Family Perception Survey. Several individual buildings have strong results! Since low response rates impact validity and we want each campus to have access to this valuable data, the survey will remain open through close of business on Friday, November 1, 2019.

Please work with your teams to brainstorm ways we can get increases in our response data from our families. While it may be more challenging without the benefit of face-to-face access through Family Advocacy Days, this information is critical to developing school improvement plans that include perspectives from ALL stakeholders.

Engaging our families is a critical component of changing our student achievement outcomes. We appreciate your help in accomplishing this goal.

3rd-5th Grade Student Surveys

from Lisa Walker
Please find below the link to the 3rd – 5th grade student survey. As discussed at previous principals??? meetings, this survey is an important part of the comprehensive School Improvement Planning process that all buildings are engaged in during the current school year.
The survey window will be open from October 21st through November 1st. Please work with your teachers to make sure all 3rd – 5th grade students have an opportunity to participate in the survey.

The first page of the survey includes drop down menus where students will select a language in which to complete the survey and also their school. Like the Family Perception Survey, the platform required a DIFFERENT LINK for the Karen translation and students will need to type in their school name on the Karen survey, rather than choose their school from a drop down menu.

Bully Site Action Plans

from Sean DeMaree
Bully site action plans are due on October 31st, 2019 to Sean DeMaree. Each bully site action plan should include how you and your staff are educating, preventing and responding to bullying at your school. Plans should also include information responding to the Jason Flatts Act on suicide. The latest research on bullying suggests that when we respond to bullying through supportive services, like counseling and social work, as opposed to more punitive and exclusionary practices, we actually see a sharper decline in the rate of bullying and recidivism. As you revise and complete your plans, this might be a great place to start making some shifts and/or additions. If you have any questions, or need support, email or call Sean.
