2018 Graduation

From Lisa Garcia-Stewart
The following recommendations for commencement are suggested for use this year:

  1. Principals and teachers are urged to keep the seniors on a full schedule through their last required day of attendance (May 16th , 2018)
  2. The names of all possible graduates must be sent to the office of Student Services on or before Wednesday, February 14th, 2018.
  3. If, after February 14th, omissions are discovered or additions must be made for any reason, please send the names to Student Services. There will be no calls for a second list of names. The first list should include all possible graduates for this year.
  4. On 8 ?? x11 paper make at least three copies of the graduation list. The ORIGINAL and a copy are to be sent to the office of Student Services. Please keep a copy in your files. Diploma lists should be numbered and typed in upper and lower case letters, two columns on the page, double spaced, with names exactly as they are to appear on the diploma. Graduation list is be emailed to Mrs. Matthia Kelsey. A diploma is a legal document, Check for accuracy of spelling of the student???s complete name on the list because the original will be sent to the diploma company for printing the graduates??? names. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE SPELLING OF ALL OF THE NAMES BECAUSE REPRINTS WILL BE BILLED TO YOUR BUILDING.
  5. A copy of graduation program must be sent to the office of Student Services no later than Wednesday, March 21st, 2018. That is the third school day after spring break.
    a. Verify all names, student and staff
    b. Verify spelling of all names
    c. Mark honor students
  6. On March 21st, 2018, I will also need ticket numbers for your school and ticket colors that will be chosen for each school. I will send the order in that day so please be prompt.

The printer will receive the programs on March 21st, 2018 by end of business day. It will take approximately two weeks after that to do the initial setup. He will return it to this office for proofing. Any changes made at that time will be the final changes.

Teacher Transfer Window

From Amy Jo Troyer
Please share with your certified staff that the 2018-19 Teacher Transfer Window will be open from March 19, 2018 – March 30, 2018. To qualify for a transfer, a teacher must have completed 3 years of service in KCK by the close of the 2017-18 school year. Applications will be collected on the district employment application website, just as they were last year, and employees must have their accounts marked as internal to see the postings. Please note that more details will follow via email to the teachers and administrators directly as we get closer to that timeframe.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Amy Jo. Thank you!

Reminder of Secondary Grading Policies

From Alan King
There have been several questions focusing on secondary grading, especially in regards to the setup of grade books for second semester.?? For year-long classes, the second semester is a fresh start which means first semester grades should not be included in the calculation of second semester grades.?? A reminder that a summary of of secondary grading practices can be found in the Curriculum area of the Staff Intranet????http://staff.kckps.org/secretgarden/index.php/secondary-grading-policy
