Please see attached for the Lump Sum form for your certified staff members. The Staff Intranet link has been updated but, if you would, please share the form with your staff in a separate notification. We’ve included sample text for that notification below:
The 2018 Lump Sum request form is now available. Please note that the deadline to return this form to the Payroll Office is April 30, 2018; changes once you’ve submitted your form, or forms submitted after this date, will not be accepted. The form can also be located via the Staff Intranet District Forms link under “Human Resources”.
It is important to note that your lump sum selection defaults to the option you had last year. Going forward:
1. If you wish to elect a lump sum, you must complete this form.
2. If you elected a lump sum and you wish to rescind, you must complete this form.
District Welcome Center-Opening April 9th
From Kristen Scott
Principals,
I wanted to tell you about some exciting news for the district.
The Welcome Center, a one-stop shop for families new to the school district to enroll their children in our schools, will officially open on Monday, April 9, in the Central Office & Training Center on the second floor. I would like to thank Student Services and Early Childhood for their wonderful partnership on this effort.
If you have been in the Central Office lately, you will have noticed a beautiful transformation of the space used for ESL services. The Welcome Center logo is prominently displayed on a wall and several tables and chairs have been set-up to meet and greet our families. The new Welcome Center logo is also displayed near the security desk on the second floor. Soon, the waiting area on the second floor will have a wall mural representative of the culturally diverse student population that contributes to the unique and welcoming environment of KCKPS.
SERVICES OFFERED:
The Welcome Center provides:
- Convenience in a one-stop setting for families
- Lunch application and special dietary forms
- School bus and transportation information
- Centralized immunization form drop-off
- Diploma+ information
- Interpreting services
- General school district information
PLEASE NOTE:
The following services are NOT provided by the Welcome Center:

Superintendent Search: “30 Qualities Survey” and “District Review Survey”
From Melissa Fears
A communication was sent district-wide on Wednesday, March 28, to staff regarding two surveys (???30 Qualities Survey??? and the ???District Review Survey???) associated with the Superintendent Search. Please make sure your staff saw the email below so they will have an opportunity to complete the surveys. Thank you for your help.
This message is being sent to you on behalf of KCK Board of Education President Brenda C. Jones.
Greetings Staff,
As you may know, Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based company Ray and Associates, Inc., has been selected as the firm to lead the superintendent search for our school district. As part of the process, the consultant is seeking feedback from you on two important surveys. The ???30 Qualities Survey??? focuses on the top 10 characteristics to consider in our superintendent candidates, and the ???District Review Survey??? focuses on the overall impressions of the school district.
We hope you will take the time to complete both surveys, which are available on the homepage of the school district website (www.kckps.org). For your convenience, we have provided links to the English version of both surveys below. ??The surveys are also available on the district website in Spanish, Hmong, and Chinese. Additional translations of the survey are forthcoming.
The feedback you provide on the surveys is extremely valuable in helping to determine the next person to lead our school district.
The survey will be open from Wednesday, March 28 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
Also, Ray and Associates, Inc. will gather feedback from various stakeholder groups during community input sessions on Thursday, April 5. There will be opportunities for staff to participate in the input sessions. Details will be shared soon.
We will continue to keep you updated as the superintendent search process moves forward. A timeline detailing the process will be posted on the website soon.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
