Tanesha McCluney Named the Receptionist for the Central Office

From Melissa Fears
Please join me in welcoming Tanesha McCluney as the new Receptionist for the Central Office. Her first day will be Wednesday, April 11. She will office on the 3rd floor of the Central Office in the space where Gerri Skaggs used to sit.

Ms. McCluney will be responsible for serving as the primary receptionist for the school district as well as greeting guests and performing general office support to the Communications Team.

Prior to joining the district, she was a customer quality specialist with Apria Healthcare in Overland Park, Kansas.
She is a proud graduate of F.L. Schlagle High School and a resident of Kansas City, Kansas.

Please stop by to introduce yourself and welcome her to the district.

Special Notice

From Dr. Cynthia Lane
Over the past several years, David Smith, the Chief Public Affairs Officer for the district, has been serving as our lead lobbyist in Topeka. Today, in addition to the school finance challenges, we are facing the potential of a constitution amendment that proposes to remove the provision of “suitable finance” for public schools from our state’s constitution. These continued threats require that we strengthen time and attention in the Kansas Legislature.

Beginning Monday, April 9, 2018, I am releasing David of his other duties in order to focus full time on our lobbying efforts. Melissa Bedford Fears, Director of Communication and Marketing, will take the lead with media and support to schools with crisis situations and sensitive communications.
I encourage everyone to be engaged and informed on the issues we are facing in our state legislature. Your voices are important as we continue to advocate for KCKPS, and schools across our state.
