Reminder About Last Year’s Changes to Checking for Completion of Elementary Grades
From Alan King
In previous years, elementary buildings were instructed to check grades to ensure that all domains of the report card have been addressed at least once within the school year. With the change of the elementary grading scale, we lost the cumulative property of our grading system. The cumulative property meant that all of the previous grades were calculated into the current grade. This made it easy in the 4th quarter for buildings to identify any domains that had not been assessed in particular areas.
Unfortunately, when we switched last year to the new scale, we were forced to abandon cumulative grading, causing us to lose the ability to see those gaps. There is not a report that clearly identifies across the year whether or not a standard has been assessed. As a result, buildings will NOT be expected to check for this.
If buildings want someone to look over the grades before teachers check out, they can do so at their own discretion.
This is the same item that appeared in the Administrators’ Notice in May 26, 2017.

Infinite Campus Secretary and Building Coach Training

As we discussed at one of the April administrator meetings, each school will identify one staff member to serve as a building coach for Infinite Campus next school year. This person will receive a two-day training along with your identified office staff member(s) in July to be a first line of support for staff in your building using Infinite Campus. If your building coach is not on duty when the training is held, they will be paid for the two days.
We are still finalizing how to provide compensation to the building coach for ongoing work done in supporting building staff members and will provide that information as soon as it is available. Please notify David Rand by e-mail who your building coach will be by Friday, May 24th. Also, please note that detailed information regarding training for teachers and other groups will be coming soon.
