Phone Campaign to Support New Certified Staff

From Shelly Beech
I wanted to make you aware that the Professional Workforce Development Team will be conducting a phone campaign beginning on Monday, August 20 with all of our new certified staff. This will involve a Central office staff person contacting each of our new certified staff to check to see how things are going and if there is a need for more support. This is done in an effort to make sure that all of our new staff feels supported and welcomed to our district and their schools.

We wanted to let all of you know should one of your new staff mention it to you. Thank you for your continued support of our new certified staff.

Kansas Offender Registration

From Michael Webb
KSA 22-4904 requires the State Department of Education to notify any school of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation internet website concerning the Kansas Offender Registration law.

KSA 22-4904(g) provides the following.

???(g) The State Department of Education shall annually notify any school of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation internet website, and any internet website containing information on the Kansas Offender Registration Act sponsored or created by the registering law enforcement agency of the county or location of jurisdiction in which the school is located, for the purpose of locating offenders who reside near such school.???

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation website is:

www.accesskansas.org/kbi/ro.shtml

We encourage you to check with your local law enforcement agency for any information they have available to assist in using the registry and providing additional information on registered offenders.

If you have questions concerning this law, feel free to contact Dale M. Dennis, (ddennis@ksde.org) at (785) 296-3871.
You can also contact the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Police Department at (913) 627-4111 or Deputy Chief Michael Webb at michael.webb@kckps.org.

Update on Infinite Campus Messenger

From David Rand
As a result of the number of staff that have requested that their address and phone number not be available to be seen in Infinite Campus, the decision has been made to go back to using Bright Arrow for staff member notifications only. Bright Arrow will get connected to Business Plus to securely pull in contact information so that staff will still be able to receive emergency notifications and important updates from the district and their school. We are working to get Bright Arrow up and running as quickly as possible and will send notification when this is complete. Please note the student and parent messenger are available for normal use through Infinite Campus. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience as we make the transition in systems and greatly appreciate your patience. If you have any questions or issues regarding Infinite Campus, please send them to ic.support@kckps.org. Thank you very much!!!!
