ILPs for EL Students

from Kristen Scott
Principals,
Just wanted to update you on this compliance item for all EL students. All that is required by the state at the end of the year on ILPs is to log their current KELPA scores.
Our plan is to have this information automatically populated on the ILP once we receive the scores in May. Thus, your staff will not have to do anything with ILPs at the end of the year!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you.

Teacher Transfer Window – Opens March 18th

from Ariel Kitting
As a reminder, the Teacher Transfer Window opened March 18th, 2019 and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on March 29th, 2019. A separate and more detailed notice will go out to teachers via email on the 18th.
To be eligible, teachers must have completed 3 or more years of service in KCK by the start of the 2019-20 school year and they must hold appropriate licensure for the position(s) they wish to be considered for.

Save the Date: KCKPS 2019 Continuing Education Fair

from Kim Smith

Greeting Administrators,

This week, I will send out the attached flyer to all buildings regarding our upcoming continuing education fair. The envelope is addressed to building secretaries, so please thank your secretaries for me, for distributing the flyers to all staff!

We have invited 17 Universities and Colleges to Central Office for a Continuing Education Fair. This is an excellent opportunity for certified and classified staff to receive information from multiple colleges about continuing education opportunities (some colleges offer discounted tuition rates). There will be representatives available to speak with staff interested in the following programs:

  • Continuing Education Courses for Licensure
  • Adult/Accelerated Bachelors and Masters Programs
  • Programs for adding additional endorsements to current teaching license (Ex. ESOL, SPED)
  • Programs for adding leadership endorsements (Ex. School Leadership)
  • Alternative Routes to the Classroom/ Transition to Teaching Programs
  • Para/Aide to Teaching Programs
  • Programs for Associate Degrees
  • Dual Bachelors and Masters Programs
  • Terminal Degrees
  • Non-Degree Seeking Professional Development Opportunities

Please share this information with your staff. We would like to garner support for this event by having great district-wide attendance!

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact a member of the Professional Workforce Development team.
