Sales Tax for Online Purchases

from Wayne Correll
As a result of a ruling by the US Supreme Court in June of 2018, the State of Kansas will be requiring out of state suppliers to collect sales tax on online purchases made beginning October 1st.

THIS WILL NOT APPLY TO OUR PURCHASES.

Kansas City Kansas Public Schools and the Kansas City Kansas Public Library are Tax Exempt for items purchased online that are to be delivered within the borders of the State of Kansas.

When checking out during an online purchase, please make sure that taxes are not being charged for the transaction. A Sales Tax Exemption Certificate can be obtained from the Purchasing Office.

It will be the responsibility of a cardholder to remove any taxes that are applied to a purchase.

If you have any questions, please contact Wayne Correll or Mindy Danberry in the Purchasing Office.

Certified Contract Amendment Election

from Jen Holt
The board recently adopted a change to the leave policy. Since the leave policy is embedded within the negotiated agreement, the certified bargaining unit will have to vote to ratify any changes before they will apply to the certified bargaining unit.

I’ve attached a copy of the proposed changes (changes are noted in red). In short, they???re adjusting leave so that it can be taken in hourly increments rather than half-day increments. Members of the certified bargaining unit should receive a digital ballot to vote within the next 48 hours. Voting will be open through Oct. 2nd. If you have certified staff members who did not receive a ballot, please have them email me at jen.holt@kckps.org
