Para Qualifications Letter & District Support Plan for Missing Credentials on File

from Lisa Walker
Please be sure to read the email sent regarding highly qualified staff requirements for instructional aides or educational support professionals.

Included here are the letter and district support plan that will be shared with your staff members who do not have the required credentials. This information is shared so you will be aware of the plans in place to help all employees obtain the credentials.

Individual emails will be sent to staff members, with a “cc” to the principal, to those employees who do not have the credentials on file. Please touch base with these employees to make sure they have read the letter and understand they are required to attend a meeting next Wednesday, 12/11/19. At that time, the support plan will be shared and staff will have an opportunity to ask questions they might have.

Please let Lisa Walker know if you have questions.

Kidzone Inclement Weather Information

from Mechelle Wortham
I’d like to share the Kidzone Inclement Weather information as discussed with our Transportation and Student Services departments.

Plan A – Two Hour Delayed Start: there will be NO morning Kidzone Services provided.

Plan B – Two Hour Early Release: There will be NO afternoon Kidzone services. Students will NOT be transported to Kidzone sites, and will remain at their home school and have parent pick up or ride their regular bus home. We are asking parents to make arrangements with the student’s home school office to ensure they get home safely.

Plan C- Schools Closed, District Offices Open – NO Kidzone services

Plan D – Schools Closed, District Offices and KCK Public Library Branches Closed: NO Kidzone services

When there are no after school activities this does NOT include Kidzone services as students are taken to their Kidzone site as part of the extended day, and parents will pick up from their child’s Kidzone site.

If you have any questions, please contact me. Mechelle Wortham (913)627-4391

ESL Information and Reminders

from Kristen Scott
The following email was sent to all building based ESL staff. Please share the information about Newcomer status with the individual who handles placing information into Infinite Campus. They need to be aware that students from Puerto Rico cannot be marked as Newcomers.

Team,

We received correspondence from the state as to whether or not these students could be classified as Newcomers – their answer was no. The definition of a Newcomer is foreign born and in the US for less than 12 months.

Quick reminders:
1. KELPA testing plans are due to me by December 20
2. The ILP window for monitoring closes December 15
