Meet and Confer Nominations

From Ryan Most
Hello Administrators,

Following Dr. Lane???s announcement regarding the Meet and Confer representation, I felt it important that we did not waste time identifying our representatives. Over the course of the past two months, I have been able to speak with many individuals and small groups regarding how we might rejuvenate KCKASA, and this seems like the perfect opportunity to breathe life back into our representative body. I suggest that the representatives end up fulfilling the role of president and vice president of our association as that is the task they will be faced with any way regarding collecting and sharing our input as administrators.

I am including a link to a google form where we may nominate colleagues we feel would be strong voices to represent us. I will share the nomination results with everyone regularly. On Friday, April following 12pm, the 2 candidates with the most nominations for secondary and the 2 candidates with the most nominations for elementary will be put on another google form/ballot to determine our final selections. (It was my understanding that central office employees including administrators have their own group. If this was a misunderstanding, speak up so we can adjust.)

Be sure to talk to those you nominate and spread the word to others why you feel they would be strong voices to represent us. We will close the final voting on April 15th at noon. Throughout the process I will share the google form results with everyone. Would we like to have a come together in person meeting/opportunity? Time? Place?

I am throwing this out there to get the conversation started and structure in place. If someone has an alternative that would be more effective, then that would be great to share out.

Thank you everyone.

Use the space below to nominate administrators you believe would make effective representative voices for us.

I’ve invited you to fill out the form Meet & Confer Representation NOMINATION FORM. To fill it out, visit:

Have an excellent day,

Teaching Opportunity through Kansas State University

From Shelly Beech
The Kansas City Kansas School District has been selected to participate in a grant called Kansas Transition to Teaching. This grant is in partnership with Kansas State University and focuses on potential elementary classroom teachers. This is a great opportunity for an individual who may have a bachelor degree outside of education but has always wanted to teach. The K-State Program allows the potential teacher to ???fast track??? and earn a Master???s degree in teaching in one year. Upon successful completion of the program, the individual would be licensed through the State of Kansas with a teaching license. The KCK district is selected as one of six districts and will have the opportunity to hire these individuals once certified.

Please share this information with any individual who may be interested in this program. The details are listed below.

Have a bachelor???s degree? Want to be an elementary school teacher?
Kansas State University’s College of Education is now offering an online Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program that delivers affordable, high-quality teacher preparation in just 12 months.
MAT combines online coursework with field experiences arranged in elementary schools convenient to you. Upon completion, you???ll be eligible to apply for K-6 teacher certification.
Interested students in Great Bend, Kansas City (Kansas) Topeka, Dodge City, Garden City and Liberal are eligible to apply for the Kansas Transitions to Teaching (KTTT) project. The KTTT provides $6,000 fellowships and additional funding to purchase necessary technology for 30 students. KTTT fellows must complete the program, obtain the necessary licensure, and engage in full-time teaching.
Other scholarships are available through KSU???s Global Campus http://global.k-state.edu/students/services/scholarships/.
Cohort 1 begins May 2016.
Interested students should visit KSU???s Global Campus http://global.k-state.edu/education/mateaching/ or call Rosemary Boggs (785) 532-5724 for more information about the MAT and/or the KTTT.
