Elementary GVC Feedback

From Suzie Legg
The Curriculum Department is seeking feedback about our current Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC) for Instructional Window 1 specifically from teachers who plan and provide instruction in the core content areas of ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

With our documents being interactive, we are exploring a new method to collect feedback for Instructional Window 1. You will be able to comment directly on the GVC document. Your feedback should focus on the front matter of the GVC, and content areas within the Pacing Guide for IW1 only. Specific vs. General feedback will be appreciated.

By accessing the webcast in the link below, you will see an example of how you might give feedback. Once you have viewed the webcast, please access the GVC for the grade level you teach or support to make specific comments.

You will be able to comment on the GVC documents from October 14 through October 21. This feedback will be requested at the conclusion of each Instructional Window and will be used to inform the future design/content within the GVC.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback.

Co-Teaching

From Jennifer Martin
We were fortunate to have Dr. Richard Villa in our district for training with teachers and administrators during the 15-16 school year. Since that time, we have further strengthened the resources that are available in the district to address co-teaching as an effective instructional strategy.

If you would like building-level professional development, we have a team of co-teaching coaches available. Please contact Danita Long (Danita.long@kckps.org) to schedule initial training or get details about how the team can further support co-teaching in your building.

ESOL Technology

From Kristen Scott
Principals,
If you have technology that was purchased by ESL funds in the past that you are wanting to get rid of, please fill out a work order and have it sent to our department at the Central Office. Many of you have reached out to me about the Smart Boards, I-Touch devices and such that you are not using due to the new technology provided by the district.
We would need for this equipment to be sent to us by no later than the end of this month. After that we will not be collecting it and it will remain in your building.
If you have questions or concerns please email me.
