ESOL Endorsement Opportunities and Reminder of KELPA Window Approaching
from Kristen Scott
We will again be offering the ESL Praxis Practice Sessions to certified staff who are interested in earning their ESL endorsement by taking the Praxis exam. At the end of this message there is a link that we would like for you to send out to staff so they can sign up for sessions if they are interested.
There will also be an application process in the Spring for the next cohort of 20 teachers who can earn 15 graduate credit hours for free towards their ESL endorsement. As we approach that time more information will come out to all staff. But please feel free to pass this along to your teachers as well.
KELPA testing window will open February 1st, so you may want to locate the headphones with microphones that you will need for this assessment. David Rand and myself will be providing guidance to administrators on scheduling for KELPA, knowing that there is also a KAP interim to be given at the beginning of February.
If you have any questions about the information in this item please reach out to me. Here is the link for staff to sign up for the ESL Praxis Practice Sessions:
Placement of Students
from Kristen Scott
This correspondence is to explain the placement of students in high school. When any student enrolls into our high schools they are to be placed in the grade level based on the number of credits they hold, not by their age. This especially applies to our EL and Migrant students who by state and federal guidelines can receive services through the age of 22. An appropriate plan can be made if a student may or may not desire alternative options, but this cannot delay or deny enrollment.
If you have any questions about this please reach out to your Executive Director, Lisa Garcia-Stewart or Kristen Scott.
Electronic Sign Up for December 21 District Professional Development
from Shelly Beech
As we continue to utilize the Frontline Professional Growth System for monitoring our Professional Development activities throughout the district, it has become apparent that we need to move to online sign in for all staff.
Beginning December 21 in our District PD sessions, all staff will be required to sign in electronically to the Frontline Professional Growth system for attendance and completion. There will not be an opportunity to sign a paper sheet for attendance, so it is imperative that all staff know how to log in. With that being said, we know that some individuals will need to update and merge the two Frontline Systems (AESOP and Professional Growth). We may also have individuals who may have forgotten their user name and passwords due to lack of use. We are asking that all IDP representatives at each building make sure that all staff are able to sign in to Frontline Professional Growth prior to the December 21 District Professional Development.
Also we have attached a video explaining how to sign up for the PD activities and how to mark them complete. Please make sure that all of you staff have the video prior to the December 21 professional development. Also we will be sending information to IDP reps on how to merge accounts in case there are staff who have not yet merged their accounts. For the December 21 District PD, the district PD activities will be listed in the PG system at least two days in advance. Individuals will need to go into the system prior to December 21 and sign up. If you have any questions, please contact Ana Perez- Sievert at 279-2314 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
EC-5 Infinite Campus Gradebook Training for Counselors
from David Rand
There will be a training session for EC-5 school counselors on the Infinite Campus Gradebook on Friday, December 14th. If possible, your Infinite Campus building coach should also attend (we are not able to provide substitutes unfortunately). If the Infinite Campus coach is not able to attend, you can send one other person in addition to your counselor. Early start and EC schools will be from 8:15-9:45 and late start schools will be from 10:00-11:30; both sessions will be in room 131. Each participant will need to bring a fully charged laptop. The majority of time during this training is intended to be Q & A to make sure that all questions people have get answered. If you have any questions regarding this issue, please let me know. Thank you very much!!!!

All student injury/incident report forms must be filled out completely and documented onto the student injury/incident report forms. Once you have done that please fax, email and or scanned those documents into me. It is very imperative that we document these injuries properly as they occur.
I have attached the student injury incident forms to this administrator???s notice below. If you have any additional questions please be sure to contact me directly at 913-279-2999 or at Leandra.email@example.com .
