Bullying and Suicide Prevention Action Plan

The plans need to include suicide prevention strategies mandated by the Jason Flatt Act. The Bully site Action / Suicide Prevention Plans serve the purpose to build and maintain relationships, that can develop skills for our students to strengthen problem solving, empathy, identify steps to seek help, and contribute to the personal and academic success of students. School teams needing help with strategies and/or writing their plans please contact Tina Richardson in Student Services. She is also available to help PLC and leadership teams with professional development around bullying and prevention. Please contact Tina Richardson. 913-627-2631or via email Tina.richardson@kckps.org
This year???s theme for this year???s Anti-Bullying Awareness Week for the state of Kansas will be ???Take a Stand, Lend a Hand.??? The dates are Oct. 2 -Oct. 7. This year the goal is to align the State Board/KSDE initiatives such as service learning, civic engagement, bullying prevention, suicidal ideation under one focus- don???t be a bystander, helping others promotes pro-social behavior.

2018 Open Enrollment New Benefits & Enrollment Process

2018 Employee Benefits Open Enrollment will begin on Monday, October 2 and conclude on Friday, October 27. This is the time to change elections, add or remove family members from coverage and to learn about changes to benefits. These benefit changes will become effective on January 1, 2018.

Because there are several new benefits this open enrollment period, the school district asked our new benefits enrollment partner, BenefitsDirect, to conduct one-on-one meetings to inform staff about these changes and support them enrolling. All employees working 30 or more hours a week are required to attend a one-on-one meeting. If employees do not meet with a counselor and sign up for insurance, they will not have insurance from the District in 2018.

These meetings are scheduled at schools and other District locations for your convenience. See the attached flier for dates representatives will be at these locations. If your worksite location is not listed on the flier, please select from the list the best place for you to attend a one-on-one meeting. Instructions for how to set an appointment along with information about the benefits plans will be sent on Monday, Sept. 11. Please note: Teachers attending one-on-one meetings will have substitute teachers to cover their classrooms.
