Late Start CIS Procedure

from Brad Isnard

As you know, all staff were allowed a two-hour late start on Tuesday due to inclement weather. Please do not approve time adjustments in CIS to add hours that were not worked. A credit of 2 hours will be added programmatically to the week for each eligible employee. It is important that CIS punches accurately reflect the time worked by employees or they could be overpaid. If you believe you may have already approved such a time edit, please review and undo any changes. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the Payroll Department.

Star Teacher Nominations Open!

from Amy Jo Troyer

Good Morning! The Star Teacher nomination process is a wonderful opportunity to recognize our best teachers who ???Inspire Excellence: Every Grownup, Every Child, Everyday!??? As principals, we are asking that you solicit feedback from your staff on who they feel exemplifies the necessary traits of a STAR Teacher and then engage your building leadership team to establish a nomination and election process. Once your leadership team has elected a representative as the nominee for your building, please submit your nominee???s name only via email to ariel.kittling@kckps.org no later than Friday, December 14, 2018 at 4.00 PM.

Similar to the criteria for the Kansas Teacher of the Year, your selection should represent the teacher who best exemplifies excellence in student learning and your school community. Specifically, your nominee should be:

??? An educator with strong pedagogy
??? An educator who is innovative, creative and has a growth mindset
??? An educator who is a positive influence on students and staff
??? An educator who is engaged in the community and professional affiliations
??? An educator who will be entering into year 5 or greater of teaching in the 2019-20 school year

For this year, you will see a revised application process for the district. We will formally provide the nominee with the District application packet the week of December 17th. Their district application packet will be due back to HR by Friday, January 18, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. You will be copied on the email providing them with the nomination packet so that you can support in that process as well.

The individual selected from your building will be recognized at the district???s STAR Teacher Award Ceremony on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Central Office and Training Center. An EC-5 and a Secondary Star Teacher will advance as nominees for the State of Kansas Teacher of the Year Award.
