Absence Management and CIS Update

from Elizabeth Faircloth
On November 5, 2019, HR sent notification out via Admin Notice to provide you with information regarding the recent change in absence entries from half/whole days to hours. Recently, we discovered that there are errors in absence reporting and how it flows from the Frontline system to CIS. We have been working diligently with Frontline to correct this error and should see that resolved by the end of this week.

Notification will go out again once the error is resolved and employees are able to approve their time in CIS. Once this occurs, we ask that you thoroughly review each of your employees’ CIS records to ensure there are no errors. In the event of an error due to an absence adding too much time, please notify Human Resources as soon as possible so that we can assist in correcting the error prior to submission of payroll.

2020 STAR Teacher Announcement-Nomination Information

from Ariel Kittling
The Star Teacher nomination process is a wonderful opportunity to recognize our best teachers who raise the standard of our belief that ???Excellence is Required???. As principals, we are asking that you solicit feedback from your staff on who they feel exemplifies the necessary traits of a STAR Teacher and then engage your building leadership team to establish a nomination and election process. Once your leadership team has elected a representative as the nominee for your building, please submit your nominee???s name only via email to ana.perez-sievert@kckps.org no later than Friday, November 22, 2019 at 4.00 PM.

Similar to the criteria for the Kansas Teacher of the Year, your selection should represent the teacher who best exemplifies excellence in student learning and your school community. Specifically, your nominee should be:

??? An educator with strong pedagogy
??? An educator who is innovative, creative and has a growth mindset
??? An educator who is a positive influence on students and staff
??? An educator who is engaged in the community and professional affiliations
??? An educator who will be entering into year 6 or greater of teaching in the 2020-21 school year

We will formally provide the nominee with the District application packet the week of November 25. Their district application packet will be due back to HR by Friday, January 10, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. You will be copied on the email providing them with the nomination packet so that you can support in that process as well.

The individual selected from your building will be recognized at the district???s STAR Teacher Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 2, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Central Office and Training Center. An EC-5 and a Secondary Star Teacher will advance as nominees for the State of Kansas Teacher of the Year Award.

If you have any questions regarding the Star Teacher nomination process, please contact Ana Perez-Sievert, Senior Office Administrator at 913-279-2314.

District Wellness Survey

from Jody Mitchell
In an effort to evolve and advance the District???s Wellness Program, HR is in the process of planning new initiatives for 2020. In order to hear all ideas, District employees will receive an email and link on Monday, November 18th. Employees will be given a two week window to complete a survey which asks about their Wellness preferences. This survey is important to guide the direction of our program and all voices are very important. Please support your employees in submitting their feedback.
