KCKPS Social-Emotional Character Resource Guide

From Sean DeMaree

To help us begin the work of teaching our students to be socially and emotionally prepared and successful we have created The KCKPS Social-Emotional Character Resource Guide. This teaching guide organizes the three SECD Development Standards, the six building block standards, all twelve KCKPS Code of Conduct Expectations, and alignment to our college and career readiness standards and provides multiple lesson examples for each of the building block standards. In order to better understand this document, a video module has been created. Please plan on presenting this short video (12 minutes total) to your staff, and then providing them with the link to their specific SECD Resource Guide. Throughout this year there will be additional modules to help teachers and staff interact and utilize this new resource.

Website Auditing

From Mike Keener
In an effort to help catalog the existing information we have on the public website, and also in the interest of keeping the site as up-to-date as possible, the Communications and Marketing Department is conducting a quality control audit of the public school district site, as well as making any and all changes possible to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the site???s content. In order to expedite this, the Communications and Marketing Team needs the administrators of departments with pages on the public site to inform us of any changes that need to be made. These could be date-based changes, personnel changes, or program changes. In order to expedite this, a sitemap has been created to usefor quick reference. In the coming weeks, the web/graphic design specialist will be contacting departments as needed when he review pages.

If you know your department has pages on the public site (including, but not limited to, Student Services, Student Health, Special Education, Early Childhood, ESOL, Curriculum and Instruction, and Human Resources), please take a look at the sitemap and let us know what needs to be updated, and send Mike Keener the new information as soon as possible. Anything not updated by the time the new public site is due to be launch will not initially be included on the new site.

School Loop Websites – Updates Coming and Meetings Required

From Mike Keener
There is an update coming at the end of this month (September 28) to all School Loop websites (this comes directly from School Loop). Each and every existing School Loop site will be upgraded to School Loop 2.0, in an effort to modernize the design of the sites as well as make the websites ADA-compliant. I will be running tests on an older site early this week so I can assist in showing the webmasters of these remaining sites how to edit the new pages.
If your school still runs an active School Loop site, please send me contact information at <mailto:michael.keener@kckps.org>michael.keener@kckps.org for the person at your school who runs your School Loop page, so I can arrange a meeting in the next two weeks to go over any changes. I need to go over these changes even if a new non-School Loop website is being planned for your school, just so everyone is trained in the interim. The following School Loop sites are still active, or at least listed as active:
J.C. Harmon High School
F.L. Schlagle High School
Sumner Academy
Washington High School
Wyandotte High School
Arrowhead Middle
Central Middle
Coronado Middle
Eisenhower Middle
Bertram Caruthers Elementary
Eugene Ware Elementary
Frances Willard Elementary

Lastly, if any of these School Loop sites are no longer in use by your school, please let me know, so that I can remove them from the main directory.
